Burn-out at work, getting over it and rebuilding your life

    *🎥 Warning: a sensitive subject!
Synonymous with profound upheaval, professional (or personal) burn-out can be a destructive ordeal. But that’s not all…

In his CARE series, Benjamin Le Botland takes us down the path of his experience and offers us a reflection on the theme: ‘Rebuilding after a burn-out: finding meaning to move forward’.💡🔥

Today it’s Erik CLAVERY‘s turn to share his journey.
Like Benjamin, and like many professionals around us, he has been through this ordeal and has been devastated. Temporarily.
He talks to us about his burnout, but above all about the opportunity it gave him to decide to make a fresh start: finding meaning, setting new goals, and rebuilding positive beliefs are essential steps in bouncing back.

    The opinion of recruitment experts

As recruitment experts, we occasionally observe the consequences of burn-out on career paths. It’s true that this issue, far from being marginal, affects a wide range of profiles, whatever their sector of activity or level of responsibility.

Fortunately, we can see that the end of a burn-out is often the starting point for an in-depth reflection on one’s professional and personal aspirations.
After this ordeal, many of the candidates our teams have met choose to redirect their careers towards environments that are more in line with their values, or to join companies where quality of life at work is a priority.

Coming out of burn-out also means agreeing to take time, to seek support, and not to feel guilty when faced with the need to slow down.
The job market is changing: recruiters are increasingly sensitive to the issue of well-being at work and value atypical, resilient and meaningful career paths.

    Advice for candidates undergoing reconstruction

We’re very concerned about this Great National Cause 2025, and we’d like to do our bit and share our experience. Here are a few tips…

    • Seek support: a skills assessment or career coaching can help clarify your desires and build a solid project.
    • Make the most of your experience: a burn-out is not a failure, but a stage that can reveal your ability to bounce back and challenge yourself.
    • Be transparent: during an interview, talk authentically about what this period has taught you about yourself and your professional expectations.
    • Favour caring environments: find out about the corporate culture, psychosocial risk prevention schemes, and the values espoused by future employers.

    💡 WHAT WE’VE LEARNT:

✅ Coming out of a burn-out takes time, and that’s normal.
✅ Asking yourself the right questions can give your life new meaning.
✅ Setting progressive goals helps you rebuild and regain confidence.

📢 What about you? What experience has inspired you to change and refocus on yourself? Tell us about it!

📆 2025, a year to refocus on the essentials and move forward with greater clarity. Take care of yourself.
