Bringing together a recruitment firm, a top manager and the world of research:
D-30 for our athlete with a big heart

Laurence COUTURIER is putting the finishing touches to her Kilimanjaro climb next August, in aid of the Fondation Recherche Alzheimer (Alzheimer’s Research Foundation): 30 days to go… 🏔️👟🎒

While the sporting and logistical preparations are taking shape, the decision to allocate the prize fund to the research costs of Capucine GENDRE‘s thesis has been confirmed: the young woman, a PhD student in the neurosciences department at Sorbonne Université, is working on Alzheimer’s disease.

    Medical expert and neuroscience researcher

    👩🏽‍🔬 She explains:

“In France, 900,000 people suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, a neurodegenerative pathology leading to cognitive disorders such as loss of memory and executive functions.

Patients often also suffer from co-morbidities, with other pathologies adding to and aggravating the deficits already present, further diminishing their quality of life.
These co-morbidities include epilepsy, a neurological disorder characterised by seizures that manifest themselves in a variety of ways, from uncontrolled movements to absences.

🧠 There is a two-way link between Alzheimer’s and epilepsy. Patients with epilepsy, in addition to Alzheimer’s, experience a more rapid decline in their cognitive abilities. Some hypotheses suggest that this epilepsy may appear in the early stages of the disease.

My thesis aims to study the mechanisms of this early-onset epilepsy, which could be due to neuronal hyperexcitability (pathological increase in activity). This information will make it possible to find new therapeutic targets to slow the progression of the disease and improve patients’ quality of life.

Mind Partners supports research and its experts…

As a recruitment professional, particularly committed to supporting experts from a variety of backgrounds, the firm sees this commitment as an essential pillar in the service of scientific and societal progress. The medical sector is one of the areas in which we have in-depth knowledge, and our aim is to support the development of scientific and medical talent.

By promoting an environment conducive to innovation, Mind Partners UK also contributes in its own way to encouraging the emergence of new ideas and the evolution of knowledge, while at the same time promoting the career and impact of researchers.

This support takes the form of making resources available, creating partnerships and recognising the indispensable role played by researchers: supporting research means investing in the future, stimulating creativity and actively contributing to solving major challenges for a better world.
